1999 International School of Loose Affiliations, Wisconsin, USA
A two month residency with artist John Ford who developed ISLA. “The INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LOOSE AFFILIATIONS (ISLA) is a framework of comprehension and operation which has been developing for about a decade, though the project is far from complete. Perhaps more than anything else, ISLA is an attitude; an effort to promote continued learning across boundaries of discipline and specific interests, culture or language. There is a primary interest in those activities for which a framework of support is not readily accessible. ISLA is realized primarily through actions based in personal responsibility, individual autonomy as well as collaboration from a position of internal strength, the sharing of personal and professional resources, and the implementation of diverse ideas and intentions. An extremely high premium is placed on quality outcome at all levels, particularly those involving meaningful human interchange.” John Ford 1999
